In 2021, fireflies no longer than five millimetres were discovered in the Nee Soon Swamp Forest and were later identified as a new species called Luciola singapura, the first species of its kind found in Singapore in 112 years. Such discovery shows that little creatures like these are thriving in a highly urbanized country like Singapore.
The sightings of such beautiful creatures inspire us to protect them in the hope that our children and grandchildren will continue to see them fluttering about. To protect the millions of unique species on this land, it is imperative that we implement sustainable practices not just environmentally but also socially and economically.
Sustainable living is about making conscious choices in our daily life. At Glow On Gallery, we provide a direct experience of what it takes to practise sustainability and guide you to stop, look, and listen to your surroundings and within. Slow down to see the beauty of human nature in true stories, and listen to the true voices of the world.
We welcome you to embark on a journey to contribute to our society in your unique ways. Let’s bring together goodness and love to continue to light up the Little Red Dot.
When people are united, they form a collective power that can change the world, just like a group of fireflies that emit flickering lights that can light up the darkness.
By meeting people, we can call on our friends and neighbours to care for the underprivileged in our community and create communities that are environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable.
How impactful can a person be?
The light emitted by a single firefly can be the spark that breaks through the darkness.
As individuals, we can do our part by making sustainable lifestyle choices, as the journey toward sustainability begins at home.

Tzu-Chi Foundation (Singapore) was established in 1993 and conferred with an Institution of Public Character (IPC) status the following year. Tzu Chi relies on public donations to carry out its charity, medical, educational, humanistic culture, and environmental causes and works closely with grassroots organizations and civic groups for the common good.
To celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2023, Tzu Chi has collaborated with a local curatorial team, The Merry Men Works, in creating Tzu Chi’s Glow On Gallery to make sustainable living a choice closer to the community.
